Our Mission
Reaching our community and beyond with the good news that Jesus saves (Luke 15, 19:10)
Teaching believers through the Bible how to love God and love their neighbors as themselves (Col. 1:28; Matthew 22:37-40)
Sending those believers back out into the world to share with others the story of how Jesus saved them (Rom. 10:13-15; Acts 1:8)

Our Vision and Purpose
The vision and purpose of our church is best summarized by the tag line: Rooted, Growing, Serving. We feel this tag line is embodied throughout scripture and is best summarized in Colossians 2:6-7 (ESV) "Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built upon him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."
At First Baptist Church of Gettysburg, it is our strongest desire that all attenders and members place their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, thus making them Rooted in Him and His word, loving Him with all their heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:36-40).
As we are rooted in Christ and his word, we are called, with God's help, to be Growing in our knowledge, faith, and love. We do this primarily through our daily devotions, participation in small group bible studies, and coming together for worship.
Being Rooted in Christ and Growing in Him, will lead to Serving Him and others with love, compassion, and truth. Serving Christ is something that should take place in our families, work place, school, neighborhoods, community, nation, and world. At First Baptist Church of Gettysburg, there are many ways to serve the Lord, and we encourage our members to seek a ministry that best suits their calling and spiritual gifts.
